Kirkus Review
Employees at Gold Coast Oil, stuck on the barren North Slope of Alaska (home of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge), are no strangers to boredom. Residents of Kaktovik village entertain themselves with rampant adultery, drugs, and gambling under the misconception that their remote location protects them from discovery.
Morgan makes it work by sticking to the weaknesses-sex, loneliness and schadenfreude that cause men and women to lose their way in an unforgiving landscape. Not your tourist’s Alaska, this potboiler has a seedy facination.
